Hi, I've typically used RG 214 for rotor loops with good success. I've more or less run out of RG 214 and am wondering about the pros and cons of Belden 9913F7 (the newer style of 9913) and flexible

I don't know about the generic stuff, but I'd suggest staying away from The UF versions of the LMR cables. The jacket is easily abraded. I've had lots of experience with LMR400 and 600UF. The only go

I would share your concern. I do like the idea of double shielded cables so RG213, RG 8 etc are off the table for now. I wouldn't worry about "double-shielding," but rather the quality of the shield.

Hi Jim, it is not widely known but Belden 8214 does not have a non-contaminating jacket. I just confirmed it on the 8214 data sheet on their website to make sure I remembered it correctly. Too bad as

Right. I'm looking at the thick Belden catalog. 9251 is the only one that is listed as non-contaminating. That said, how much of a problem is that at HF? I wouldn't think much. At UHF, yes. 73, Jim K

Hi Jim, granted the loss is lower at HF but additional loss is still additional loss that could be avoided. I would not suggest replacing an existing run of 8214 used on 80 meters. The time for that

Hi Mark, what is the concern for double shielded rotor loops? I realize it will not hurt anything to use double shielded cable for that but why is that an issue? 73, Gerald K5GW In a message dated 6/

Gerald: In most cases double or single shielding is probably a non issue for me at HF so long as I use "high quality" single shielded cable. That being said, I have found that on occasion some single

John KK9A I saw that Belden 8267 (RG213) has a non contaminating PVC jacket and that would represent good value especially for the lower bands where the loss is already low. I personally would choose

Doug Is split loom UV proof? It looks a lot like blue flexible plastic conduit. That conduit is DEFINITELY NOT UV proof. It's practically "biodegradable". Rick N6RK __________________________________
