I have a Yaesu 2800DXA rotor on my 40/30 antenna. Its rotor length to the antenna is 390 ft. I am using the 6 conductor 18 ga on the tower 80 ft. and 2X16 ga and 6X20ga with two extra wires added one

Likely the current draw in colder weather is dropping voltage below rotor requirement.  So, I would increase the wire to 2x14 and 6x18.  I got mine from Wireman. 73, Keith NM5G On Wednesday, April 21

Wayne, I have the same problem with my DXA. I am using a homebrew controller and 6 wire control cable at about 250 feet. I suspected maybe the grease on the gear train was thicking during cold weathe

Wayne, Years ago I had an AC powered rotor 800 feet from the shack. The voltage drop was too much over that long run of wire and the motor wouldnt turn. I added a 5 VAC filament transformer (or was i

I would beef up only the motor conductors. The location conductors (the smaller gauge) are only sensing the position of a pot. 73, Jim K9YC _______________________________________________ ___________

If I recall Yaesu did not give a lot of details regarding the wires for the G2800DXA. The two G2800DXA's that I had in Aruba always worked in cold weather using the supplied cable:) You could see wha

Make sure there's >12VDC at the rotor. I have found that when all electrical issues seems OK, that it's time to look at degreasing the thrust bearing, then loading it with new grease. Also look to lu

Hesitant to ask this but have you checked the voltage drop at the rotator? Might or might not be the problem. It could be you simply need a low temperature grease instead of the stuff that turns to a

Since you have a GHE RT21 make sure your ramp starts at a higher point in the winter to kick it loose and get things moving. When at 10% starting my RAK would work fine in the summer but was "frozen"
