Yes Bill, I plan to be on. Will monitor 144.260. I think WA4DFS plans to go to Mt. Mitchell with 5.7 and 10 GHz. I'll check email often and can be contacted by AOL Instant Messenger or phone. Thanks
Enjoyed the event here in NC. Prop to the NE was poor and for a while I thought I was only going to hear locals. However at 0149Z K5QE in Texas, EM31 was worked. I heard another 5 calling several tim

Several ops in my area have recently discovered the range advantage of mobile horizontal SSB. A few are using the PAR Omniangle antenna on 6 and 2 meters with impressive results. http://www.parelectr

Propagation wasn't as good as I expected for a nice Spring day but overall I think the activity level was better than in the past. Best DX was K3TUF on 903 and 1296. Also I was able to log W3IY, W4HS
As of this moment all gear for 50 MHz thru 24 GHz appears to be operational. Since I don't have a 2 1/2 ton truck to carry my conglomeration of gear I'll be operating the contest from home in EM95tg.
Is the driven element on a 424B 432 MHz antenna, about 1990 vintage, DC grounded to the boom.? Does the T match use capacitors so that the balun feed shows to be a DC open? Anyone still using one? I
Thanks to all who answered my question directly. Just so the info will be available to anyone else who may need to know in the future, the driven element is insulated from the boom with Heyco 375-3 b

Since I believe the sprints allow non radio liaison we will tonight try using an online chat page to set up contacts. We here in the Mid Atlantic states seem to always miss the Southern Georgia and F
The East Coast 70 CM net will operate as usual tonight during the sprint. I don't believe this has caused a problem in the past and I know it has helped some stations make contacts. So look toward EM
Interesting read but the statement "in the days of the old VHF television transmissions" makes me wonder if it was written in the future by Dr. Emmett Brown. :) Dex, W4DEX ___________________________

I need some help understanding this part of the rules in Section IV. "All antennas used by the entrant must be physically connected by wires to the transmitters and receivers used by the entrant" W4D
I personally do not have a situation where this rule would be a problem. Even when using a "flyswatter" on the microwave bands the actual antenna is still connected to the transmitter. The flyswatter
Contest activity was above normal in the Southeast from my perspective. Had I known how close my score would be to the ultimate station I would have put more effort into making contacts than socializ
