Thanks everyone for all the good suggestions. A popular suggestion, and the one that worked, was to uninstall and fully reinstall Writelog. I also took the opportunity to get the latest Full Install

Phil, Did it ever work before? Or is this the first try? If its worked before, its probably a setting in the sounds control panel for sounds and audio devices that is set different than what you need

Bob, It works with the external speed pot unplugged. Use the Writelog page-up/page-down commands to change the speed. If you need manual control with the computer off, just replace the potentiometer,

Rich, I've never had a problem with a contest's log-checker not accepting duplicate or out of order sequence numbers. As long as the log shows what you sent, there is no problem. The Band Summary win

Hi Pete, I've never experienced it with Writelog, but sometimes when Windows starts downloading updates in the background, or a virus program starts an update and scan, that can cause slow response.
