I'm trying to get a PCcables 70607 USB/RS232 adapter cable to work for rig control under WriteLog. The device installed smoothly as COM4 and I configured the port for 4800 baud. WL won't communicate

I tested that exact same cable for 2 radio operation and got it to work. I don;t presently have it hooked up so I can;t compare my settings but I don;t recall it being difficult at all. I run XP Home

Yes, the driver installed without a hitch and device manager indicates all is copasetic. The adapter terminates in a male DB9 and I use a straight thru female-female DB9 adapter to connect to the FT-

Did you issue magic incantations on both Setup/Ports and Bands/Set Freq and Mode? They must match and you must do Setup/Ports first. Also, you could have invisible conflicts with other programs such
