it sounds like water in the coax.. But take it a step at a time, put a dummy load at the antenna and transmit, if its stable, ya broke the antenna ( dropping the whip inside to far can break the wire

HAm Radio Deluxe is my favorite, and I love the super browser (SB) you should register the software, but no fee.. good program , great rig control and packet works well I'll second Jerry's findings..
