I am considering trading up from an L-4B to an L-7. I know the L-7 has greater band coverage and QSK, but is it built as well and does it perform as well as my reliable L-4B? Experiences and comparis

Not that I'm aware of, Rich. Having built-in QSK was one of the features I was once told was part of the L-7. I have an outboard Ameritron QSK-5 I could use, but it would have been nice to be able to

Yesterday I tuned across the end of a QSO between two ops discussing a new Svetlana tube. It is supposed to be a drop-in replacement for the 3-500Z, but with an extra 100 watts of plate dissapation.

Back in the 1 KW input days, it was said the venerable Drake L-4B could operate RTTY at full output more or less continuously. Was/is this is true statement? Was that old BA really that good? -- Dick
