I have the old hy-gain version of the 6BTV and I have an HF6V. I often operate in diversity receive with the Hy-Gain in one ear and the HF6V in the other. The HF6V always hears better than the Hy-Gai

I would not advise using that mod for tilting the tower up. When you tilt up the tower by hand it bounces a lot just from the motion of induced on the fixture by the hand cranking and there is a trem
