Ten Tec Argon I rather like the sound of that. Perhaps a future QRP rig name. You heard it on the Ten Tec list first :-) -- Kevin Purcell kevinpurcell@pobox.com ______________________________________

Are you sure you actually need to modify the ring mixer diodes? When I got around to looking at one of my (now two) 525D's I noticed there are a few differences even in the same model run. I've been

Once you have two you can compare them. :-) My 525D serial 01611 has a front panel (below the meter) that looks like the analogue Argosy. The name plate says "TenTec Argosy". Like this: <http://www.r

Another difference between the 525D and the 525 is the low/high power switching. In the analogue 525 the switch takes the PA out of the system -- the driver drives to LP filters. In the digital 525 t

My point was that you aren't going to get a better match from 4 HP separate diodes (which may or may not come from the same batch) than the integrated ring so that mod is not worthwhile Do you agree?

We have a winner! Actually three winners George K3GP, Duane, N9DG and Don, NN8B. Yes, the MBD-101 is a discrete schottky diode. So the Cosair was the first Ten-tec radio to use a schottky diode ring
