Here in Starkville (north-east MS) Katrina was pretty bad, but nothing like what the coast got. My two towers survived, although some elements on the 15m stack were broken and bent, most likely from

I use a pair of K2/100's SO2R. First, the K2/100 does have an output jack to key an amplifier relay. Signals are correctly timed to prevent hot-switching. It does not have a way to place the radio in

I use a pair of K2/100's. The problem with ssb tx audio compared to most other contest radios is that the K2 doesn't have a RF-level speech compressor, only one acting on the mic input (audio level)

I spent a long time doing the Sprint SO1R, but my scores have really improved since I started doing SO2R. Maybe also now having 4/4 monobanders on 20m and gain on the low bands has helped as well :)

IARU 2007 scores are now online. I was surprised my score was larger than my claimed score, then I realized that my zone was incorrect. N4OGW should be in zone 8, not zone 7. For the IARU I think it

There is one big disadvantage to using Skimmer in "Softrock-IF" mode: you get a lot less bandwidth even with a high sample rate sound card. In this sense just a simple Softrock is a better choice. In

One more comment about Skimmer Softrock-IF setup: There IS one way to get a wide bandwidth in this situation. Just set up the program as you would for a normal Softrock (i.e. no RS232 connection to t

Well, I don't think the "sky is falling" because of Skimmer :) For one thing,  running Skimmer locally as a single op (what I would call "unassisted") is nowhere as useful for finding mults as being
