- Try rf parts. they have amperex 3-500z. don't know if the anode on that is the design you are looking for or not but i'm thinking it isn't graphite since it's a z. you will have to call them and ask.

- Absolutely. My Henry 3K-A is spec'ed at 2000W PEP Output right in the manual. It has ~4000V unloaded (3750 or so loaded) on the plates. With the fresh RF Parts ZGs, I got every bit of that with 100W

- umph - well if the typical off-the-shelf AL-80B sits idle at 2900v to the plate (I do not know if this is its normal operating voltage), 1600w input would seem to be a lot of plate current for 1 tube

- Dang - must be long grain graphite in those tubes. I get about 1100W PEP steady carrier with my L4, albeit with 3-400Z tubes that are nearly 40 years old, envelope glass browned with use. 73 Jason N1

- The photos i've seen of AL-80Bs have Amperex tubes - I thought Amperex built their tubes using graphite plates that get "sick" with that kind of use. Something about graphite poisoning or deformation
