I have a confusing problem with my AL1200. During operation when the stdby/oper is on, the received signal is very weak. Switching back to standby and the signal level is fine. Checked the relay and

Try unplugging the PTT line from the amp and see if the problem goes away.  Sounds like when you are going to "operate" on the front panel, there is a path to ground from the relay coil. Either insid

Thanks Mark. I'm letting it the amp sit right now to discharge as it was on today Yes, just a WAG, but if you feel the relay contacts and spring are both good, this is all it can be. Famous last word

You could also go to "operate" and verify that the voltage is the same on both sides of the relay.  If it is NOT the same, you've got a path to ground that is partially pulling the relay in. Yes, jus

Forgive my ignorance but I thought it was to put the amp in circuit. Which it does because power is output. Unkeying the amp and the receive is weak. When the op switch is on. Isn't that the way the

No, it is the case!  The ONLY way the rx can be lost if the switch is in operate is if the antenna relay line is shorted to ground and the rx signal is fine in standby.  Its very simple to determine

I was saying it can't be welded contacts because the relay does its job and returns to rx when the op switch is in stay. Does this with the relay cable pulled out. This was reported and tested twice
