Jean: I just finished building an interface to key my TL922 from my FT5000. The 922 has 120 volts on the keying line, too much for a small signal transistor. I debated with myself whether to use a hi

I would key the amp by grounding the amp PTT line. I would measure the keying current and also the amp ptt open circuit voltage and then check the spec on the FT1000D. Then you would know if the FT10

Hi Jean The best way to found out if TL 922 was modified for low voltage keying is by taking a voltage measurement at the rca key-in jack. If you got +100 volts no, if yes it could be 12 or 24 v dc.

The TL-922 has 120 volts DC on the relay key line. And yes, it will weld the contacts shut on your radio. The relays on the TL-922 are very SLOW switching from transmit to receive. They frequently ho

Jean,   The TL922 T/R control has the same problem that the Heathkit SB-220 has... whatever drives the "RL CONT" input must discharge 0.02 uF (C27 + C61). While the two relay coils' DC resistance per

I'm not quite following this, Bryan. Unless I've dropped a factor somewhere (always a possibility!) or misunderstood the circuit (also a possibility), a .02uF capacitance charged to 120V has a stored

Hi Jim,   I got a larger number when simulating it using LTSpice (for the SB220). Of course, measuring is always bestest but, even if there is significant error, 2.4A is a factor of almost X10 more t
