An interesting characteristic of an AC relay is that it buzzes like crazy as the voltage ramps up to the value it needs to fully operate. I assume that the relay contacts are doing that as well which

By the time the relay starts buzzing the AC voltage is probably up to maybe 70% of maximum and the turn on surge is about over. The buzzing contacts then will be shorting across the limiting resistor

For $15 including shipping buy one and report how it works. Remember it is for 220-240V only and the only thing 30A is the relay which has a 24VDC coil. Im not sure how the thermistors are configured

I recommend 10 Ohms. I use 2 resistors and 2 relays. There are fuses in series with the resistors to protect them. Why would a cap blowing up cause an issue with a step start circuit? Again, I use 2
