- Paul, Much as Herb did, in the 80's I "fixed an 8877 with the same issue by connecting the pins to a charged many farad capacitor from an old computer power supply. I had a volt meter attached, bange

- Colin, I believe the theory that a pulse of high current DC causes the contact to repel. A long pulse may actually weld the contacts. A 35 volt charged 5000mfd capacitor may be the best alternative.
