I don't know that phonetics in the middle of the exchange are all bad stuff. Yes I think I have the call correct , however when they are given by KE7XYZ this gives me some time to correct the Q numbe

To me, anything that is NOT part of the exchange is a bad thing. Particularly during bad QRM. So "Please copy" and "check" could easily be confused as part of the exchange, and perhaps "4 M XY4XYZ 89

I also like it when some military controllers ask: "Say type aircraft", and we answer with HU25. (We tell the civilian controllers "Falcon Jet"). We are then asked what type of helicopter is a HU25.
