You gotta love the irony in some of these situations. I heard KU8E being accosted by some frequency cops about being in the DX window (3798kHz) on 75m in the Sprint... as he was working an F4...also

There are as many misconceptions, and or misunderstandings, within the DX community as there is within the Contesting community about the 'DX Window'. The U.S. is just about the only country in the w

The biggest misconception about the 'windows' on the various bands is that it is the only place to work dx. In most dx contests we work very little dx 'in the window'. Most of what we work on 80m is

Hi Mal I, for one, am pretty confused on how the window is supposed to work during a contest. Does the DX work split, or do some U.S. stations just sit in the window and the DX rotates in and out of

I envy the way the east coast crowd can CQ above 3800, and get EU to call below 3750. It doesn't work that way for us out west, trying to run JA. The JA/USA windows are 3750-3753 and 3792-3803. That

Yes, but what about DX stations and DXpeditions using common DX split freqs such as 14.195/14.200, 21.295/21.300, 28.395/28.400 and then some local guy wants to call CQ just a Khz or so below the DX

Folks: Aren't we getting a bit too emotional to make logical points supporting our case? That "large swath of spectrum" which Rich so covets is 10 KHz, which is 4% of the total 'phone spectrum availa

This is too bad, because back when the JA's could only transmit below 3600 (or so), it was the norm for the USA to CQ high in the band listening down. Ever since they got the Window, that all went aw

This won't work if the DX isn't aware that someone's covering him up but I've often thought that if he is the problem could be solved in a minute or two by the DX saying, "Listening on xxxxx only" wh

Wait a minute ... aren't these "DX cops" violating their own rules? Why are THEY transmitting in the DX window? Sheesh - no one accused them of being logical people. If I were really upset by someone
