Did anyone notice how many first timers where on this year? I have a list of 12 guys that are newly licensed, & have never made a contest Q until I walked them thru it. For one, I was his 1st HF QSO.

Good move on your part Chuck. I noticed some first-time contesters too. Perhaps 5 or 10 guys who called me and said "I'm not in the contest but wanted to give you a contact, what do you need?" It was

Hi Chuck: Yes, I always enjoy doing this, telling the guys what to send for their exchange, and walking them through it. I'm even crazy enough to do it on CW! This is the primary reason I'm against r

Thanks to K5ZD's fine work on creating/updating the SS-only call sign Database; starting at mid-morning on Sunday, when I noticed a callsign that was not in the database, I welcomed them to their fir

I think it is a good thing to perform moderate "recruiting", especially over the air. Let's admit it - if no one bothered to, would any of us actually be here? Kudos to Chuck and everyone else. I als

Hi all, I noticed an interesting trend last weekend. Did anyone else? I found a lot more folk were opting into Q. It seems QRP is gaining adherents, even among high-power stalwarts as K5ZD. I almost

Well, wasn't that a disaster? Sheesh, now we know how Jay feels. One-way prop seemed to dominate the weekend from here. It was only till late Sunday that things started to open up. There was no 15 an

I'm glad someone else noticed! I've always kinda wondered if "one-way skip" was real, but this weekend made a believer out of me. On all bands, but it seemed especially on 20, I had many instances w

I had a lot of problems making QSO's this weekend. I had to give fills on almost every QSO. I was running a barefoot TS-850. The stations I was calling were all loud and many were "A". I figured it w

I've sure heard enough reports of one-way propagation to believe it, but... I can also think of some other reasons for loud stations to CQ in your face.. - QRM was intense. - He had some kind of equi

I had two instances of one-way propagation during SS. While running on 20, I kept hearing K5RC putting out his call sign right on my frequency, but he never made a QSO, and never replied to my severa
