Just heard from Pat that he will be using high power to feed into 3 different stacks for NE, N, and NW during the NAQP Saturday. He'll be entering as a check log but wanted to see how the antennas wo

If Pat wants to see how the antennas play in the NAQP, he should just run low power, and submit a legitimate entry. Few years ago, I made the mistake of running high power in the NAQP, and submitting

Why not allow high power in the NAQP? The guys that win all the time typically run HP in other contests anyway. Plus most of them have large antenna farms as well. You call that a level playing field

One of the great joys of NAQP is that it IS a Low Power Contest. Another is that stations outside of the east coast have a shot at it. 73, Jim K9YC _______________________________________________ CQ-

There sure is a lot of talk about "level playing fields". Are there really those who think we should bring everyone down to the lowest level of station and antennas so we can say we have a level play

Stan, That's exactly what the NAQP rules do. Everyone has to run 100 watts and that's somehow fair and a level playing field for everyone? As we all know your antennas make your station not running h

Nope. But NAQP IS A LOW POWER CONTEST. PERIOD. A high power station in NAQP is like a turd in a punch bowl. In NAQP, the competition is more about antennas and operating skills. By all means, use NAQ

I don't understand. Why does one have to assume the rules were written to create a level playing field? This is poor justification for creation of a "KU8E Category" in any contest. __________________

For the guys in the top-10 ("the guys that win all the time"), you would lose that bet. Thanks to the RBN, it is very easy to identify "curiously strong" stations. In past NAQP's, a number of those s
