Another question--can you check if the distortion is also on the Aux input as well? If it is not, that narrows down the problem quite a bit. Ron N6AHA _______________________________________________

Then the problem is probably isolated to the SSM2166 mic preamp chip in the A7 section (schematic 81917_9.pdf) or its associated components, U201AA or U200A (Main Codec, schematic 81917-6.pdf). The U

Whoops....sent that last e-mail before I wrote a message! I talked to W6FE last night on 3.847 later on in the evening last night, and heard that distortion first hand. He blames it on his 'gravelly

Ron, I have also heard John, W6FE, on his Flex. It sounded dead clean to me... I have started recording MP3 audio clips of all these on air encounters, and will be listing them on an internet server

To one degree or another all the O2's sound this way, and also 2056 on the Classic Orion does not sound as good as on the V1 versions of software. I have commented to a few O2 owners that their audio

Thank you for the kind comments on the audio. I should be on 40 meters this evening sometime after 0000 UTC, and possibly as late as 0400. Look around 7165 to 7195, and we can share some ideas! Ron N

You are most likely right about that. The DSP code can change the frequency response of the system, and my measurements show the low frequency response is off quite a bit from the published specs. I

I would like to hear what their diagnosis is. I'm convinced now that there is a problem that effects only some of the O2's...maybe a bad run of chips from a 3rd party supplier. My O2, which does not

I am somewhat surprised that a "master reset" would not also do a RAM reset. Most other computer systems behave this way. 73 Bob, K4TAX _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing
