Has anyone used a 2800Hz filter in their Omni/Paragon rig in the 9mHz slot to widen their band width? Just wondering if it was worth the effort, and did it improve transmit fidelity to the receive st

Yes, it will improve transmit fidelity. How much it improves receive fidelity depends on which rig. The Omni 6/6+ dsp rolls off the low freqs below 260hz on receive, so it's not a dramatic improvemen

The words "improve transmit fidelity" in this context are mis-applied. This is ham radio, and our objective is COMMUNICATION, not wider audio bandwidth. Lower audio frequencies (below about 500 Hz) m

Mark I have that mod in an OMNI VI + and really like it. I have the 2800 in both slots The receive is so much nicer and I have actually had the stations in the other part of the world pause a pile up

I asked my original question because I have a Paragon II with a non balanced filter, it seems. LSB is high pitched, USB is more normal or bassy. I got one which had been checked by TT in Tenn, but wh

Sounds like what I started with on my original TT filters. Had all bass and no midrange on lsb and all highs on usb. The bfo's were set properly so I swept the response through the mic jack--what a m
