For RTTY it is rated 1000 watts output for 10 minutes of transmit time with a 50% duty cycle. i.e. 10 minutes transmit, followed by 10 minutes of receive. Follow the TUNE UP procedure in the manual a

Hi Bob, The Titan 425 uses a pair of 3CX800A7 triodes. Your advice to watch the (control) grid current is good. There is no screen grid. DE N6KB _______________________________________________ TenTec

Sorry folks, I quoted data from the Titan III which uses 4CX800A tetrode tubes and not 3CX800A7 triode tubes. The latter was used in the earlier version of the Titan amps. My manual is for the Titan

Hi Bob, There have been at least three versions of Ten-Tec Titan amplifiers (or four if you count the darker colored version of the 425, and I guess there was a "Gold" edition of the 425 too, so perh

Bob -- I think you're quoting the specifications from the Titan II or Titan III. The Titan 425 is rated at 1000 watts continuous -- no time limit. Running RTTY with that amplifier at 1500 watts in us

Steve, I'll second that! As far as I know, there is no protection for Grid Overdrive on the 425. There is an "Overdrive" LED that indicates that too much power is being applied to the amplifier. The

As others have suggested, be conservative. Grid current is a well known failure mode, so my absolute rule is to keep the grid current below 30 mA. Period. For RTTY, I'd run the amp around 800 watts o

I've used mine a bit on RTTY, and I keep the voltage switch in the low position. The air coming off the finals gets REAL, REAL hot in the high position. This is also what the manual says to do. 73, D
