Look over the wiring and parts carefully for smoked components, int the stages where you heard sound and saw smoke. You are looking for popped open capacitors as a first priority. Also examine resist

I would just pull the PA from the Paragon and drop it in the Corsair.  Most of the TenTec PA stages look alike ?  Wonder why?  HI.  Might have to tweek the biasand input ckt, but that is what I'd try

Bob If one 458 blew do I have to replace both of them. I have a final assy out a parts rig and it might be easier to replace the whole assy if the transstosr check OK w a Simpson of Triplett VOM Joe

Thanks Stuart. I have a Corsair parts radio with a a good RF assy, at least checking with a VOM on the finals, I'll put that in the Corsair that failed. Hopefully that will solve the problem. Joe --
