I bought a 599zx to use with my Omni V. I also tried it with a TS850. I was generally disappointed with the result with both radios, and sold it. My observations are pretty much in line with Jerry's.

I don't understand the bit about it adding greater selectivity. It is an audio filter, which applies after the radio has completed its work. I cannot see how it would improve "selectivity" - it merel

Probably most of these add on audio DSP units have both a noise reduction mode which maintains the full bandwidth of the input audio, and a bandpass filter mode which lets reduced bandwidth of of au

I sometimes use a passive and switchable low pass filter in the speaker circuit to trim off the audio stage distortion harmonic products. The only problem is it takes even more audio output to get a

I call a 25 Hz brick walled bandpass, SELECTIVITY! Whether at audio or IF or RF it still sets the spectrum limit on what I'm going to hear. Remember in the SSB receiver all it does is translate a sec

Although I had a DSP-599 that I used with my Paragon, I sold it and replaced it with a AOR TDF-370 which I have found to be a much more effective audio DSP for both CW and SSB. In the CW DSP mode whe

Don't blame impedance matching, it's a lousy audio chain. An LM386 should have no problem driving headphones. 73, Jim K9YC _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@c

Jim, I've always told myself that my TenTec radios had a lower RX noise floor than the radio on the other end. I've seen this happen mostly when the received signal was less than S-1. Usually if the
