I have a TenTec station Omni VII, Centurion, RX-320D, Model 715, and some of their receiver kits. I also have a pair of Palstar tuners, only one of which is on line with the transceiver right now. I

Antenna "tuners" (matchboxes) do not really tune (resonate) an antenna -- they just match its impedance to the Tx or Rx. This is generally not very important at the sub-milliwatt power levels encount

The Ten Tec Antenna Tuner Tuner kit is a noise bridge with a fixed 50 ohm reference to compare to the Antenna. It has an audio modulation inserted on the Noise signal to make the match point stand ou

I may use it on the transceiver as you suggest... but what about what Charles says about not needing a tuner for a receiver (only.) Maybe on receiver-only it is a solution looking for a problem. I wi

On events like Field Days, I have seen a tuner improve the signals some 3 dB, or maybe it was the combination of signal plus improvement in QRM, (lowering of the noise floor). For listening when the

James, The answer is, it depends on the tuner, and the band conditions. Most tuners today simply match the SWR but don't really add any bandpass selectivity. However if you use a link-coupled tuner,

Rick, DJ0IP, makes excellent points. The common ham tuners from the factories are Tee circuit here in USA, a high pass type, so no help against harmonics of your signal or another signal. The link co
