Both my Omni 7s have dsp nr.which is pretty much useless to me when the band conditions get dicey.it works, but makes ssb voice sound gravely. I wind up using a wifi interface between my hearing aids

Have you upgraded to the latest version of firmware?  If  not, please consider doing so because JohnHenry did improve the noise blanker algorithm on the Omni VII in the latest version. 73 -EricW9WLW

I have a very recent O7 and I assume you mean the NR not the NB? That function works pretty well for me, better than the built in DSP NR on my Yaesu radio, but frankly not as good as the external aud

well an updateattended the Puyallup swap meet yesterday and came back with a JPS NRF-7 noise eliminatorI think it uses a bunch of op amps and also think there is an eprom chip in there. I used it for
