Have you upgraded to the latest version of firmware?  If  not, please consider 
doing so because JohnHenry did improve the noise blanker algorithm on the Omni 
VII in the latest version.

Both my Omni 7’s have dsp nr….which is pretty much useless to me when the band 
conditions get dicey….it works, but makes ssb voice sound gravely. I wind up 
using a wifi interface between my hearing aids, lowering the b/w to about 1000 
hrz and twiddling with the af and rf controls.
Anyone using outboard noise blankers that will do a better job?
Times like this I really miss my old broken Orion.
