I hope to make a trap vertical that works on 80 and 160.  I hope to find an 80 meter trap design that can handle full power.  The 80 meter energy would stop when it gets to the trap, but the trap wou

Dave has read my mind. I'll mount the trap at the top of the tower, and above that will be something like a 10 foot stinger (insulated from the tower of course - probably the middle of a deceased 40

Thanks Joe, this was just what I was looking for.  I knew someone must have done this before.  I've slept since I last read about the Battle Creek Special.  Legendary skyhook. 73 - Mark N5OT I think

I used RG-213 to make a trap once, including the recommended 1 inch no braid.  I got a knock on the door one night, and it was a neighbor, telling me that fireballs were dropping off my antenna. Dave

First question is, why a trap? If it's not height, consider a fan. Second, there's a design for 2-band 2nd harmonic dipoles where there's a loading coil (NOT a trap) near what would be the quarter-wa

Jim et al, I have been using the HyPower Antenna 160/80 antenna here over the last 3-4 years. They have two models one a bit longer than the other. I use the longer model here. These work well on 80m

Well THAT is just way too much fun.  I might have to give it a try!  Been a fan of W7ZOI since I was a teenager. Back in the 1970s it was "a QRP transmitter and an RF resistance bridge."  I'm guessin

my recent 80M trap experience.....my previous 160m ant was an inverted L suspended off a hazer on my Rohn 25 tower.....when higher winds or storms I cranked the hazer down, so was out of business on

Back in the attic antenna days, I used a trap 160/80 at the house.  Was running CW & RTTY then and kept frying coax type traps.  As they heated up the SWR would move around and you could see it on ke

I've read somewhere that traps should be tuned below the band of interest. Then adjust the loading wire to compensate. That reduces the extremely high RF voltage across the trap. Charlie, N0TT ______
