Steel wool breaks up and I would avoid using it on antennas. Scotch Brite works great and wont cause any rust issues. I'm sure that a number of solvents will dissolve the penetrox. John KK9A Doug, I

Steel wool will shed as John said and then rust. You can use stainless steel wool (available but not at every little corner market or local Walmart.) Bronze wool doesn't rust and doesn't shed as bad
