My tower project has finally progressed to the point that I need to install a rotator. The antenna will be a 4 element steppir Yagi, with a wind area of 9 sq ft, 32 foot boom. I currently have the fo

Rick, the T2X control box DOES work with Ham IV. I am doing just that here. 73, Joe

Hi Rick, I dont know about the Ham rotators, but at least over here spare parts for Kenpro/Yaesu rotators are QUITE PRICEY if you get them at all 73 Con DF4SA

Yes. You could have Norm's or Rotordoc overhaul the Ham IV's for you. However, I wouldn't recommend the Ham IV for an antenna with a 32' boom, particularly if the Ham IV has been disassembled for ove

Greetings to all, I'm planning a new QTH and antenna (MonstIR, 2mtr, 70 cm) and had planned on utilizing the M2 OR-2800 rotator. Recently I've heard, through the "grapevine" that the OR-2800 has had

Bill: I was concerned about the rotator also. The 2800 gets alot of work at my QTH and I am pleased with its performance. I have the MonstIR, 2m and 70cm antenna in a US Tower HDX 589 tower. It is th

Craig, Looking at the photos on your site, I noted that it seems that the LMR600 is in the rotator loop. Is that what is happening here and if so, how does the LMR600 handle being rotated back and fo

Hi Bill and others, OK - I will put in my .02 worth and please remember it is my experience only. I went through three M2 rotators in a year. Now, one of not their fault (lightening hit) but the othe

The M2 2800 rating of 35 sq feet is comparable to my own rating of 400 sq feet (on an absolute calm day!). Without a specified wind speed the rating is meaningless? k7puc ____________________________

G'day, sq rating An interesting point. Maybe there is someone out there who can offer clarification on this. I found the windloading of the Optibeam OB9-5 somewhat confusing: Windload at 130km/h 578N

Not only is it that the M2 rating of 35 sq feet is meaningless, also the rotational torque inertia may even be more important! See my previous posting on 4/28/06 at 9:08 am. There have been no respon

Greetings, Perhaps I am wrong, but the whole idea of wind load on a rotator seems to be a misnomer. The only time that spec would be valid is for side load, not torque, and side load only counts if t

Even then it won't be zero as the antenna will tend to oscillate and that will produce tremendous torque for short periods. As far as I know the worm gear rotators are rated in inch pounds of torque
