I'm looking for ideas for securing a large HF vertical to a concrete post. The post is approximately 10" in diameter. It is also near saltwater so corrosion is a concern.I've thought of using several
Is this a temporary installation or intended to be long term. What's the diameter and material of the HF vertical? jim ab3cv _______________________________________________ __________________________
Permanent installation on a dock piling.I would be securing something like a BigIR or DX Engineering vertical. The DX Engineering tilt base normally mounts to a 2.5-3" diameter pipe. See:https://www.
Many people associate hose clamps with the screw/band worm gear. T-bolt hose clamps are much stronger. I use them when telescoping larger tubing and to clamp my DX Engineering insulated element brack
Hi John,I've never seen T bolt clamps except online. That might work too.The DX Engineering tilt base uses a pivoting u channel made of some composite insulating material so no problem insulating th
10 7/8 ID stainless steel U-Bolts are readily available. The 8 3/4 with a 1/2-13 thread is much less money and I have had good success reshaping u-bolts, assuming that the threaded ends are long enou
Remember that most concrete is a conductor. Resistivity varies with the mix. 73, Jim K9YC _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mai
For robustly securing (at a reasonable price) a smallish cylinder to a very large parallel cylinder it's hard to beat a chain mount, such as: https://www.sitepro1.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&

I think typical thin SS banding has limited strength and high corrosion risks. Then if the stress stretches the top band or it breaks, down comes the antenna. Plus how do you attach the antenna? You
Gary, My first thought would be to cut off whatever length you would need of 25G tower, if it would fit over the post. If it would not fit, I would somehow shim 45G so it was tight after telescoping

Jim has a great idea but it may be more heavy duty than K9GS needs. Searching using his suggested terms show a lot of pole brackets but most used worm gear hose clamps and are for signs or cameras. I

Thank you everyone for the great suggestions. I think I am going to purchase some large U bolts and machine some U channel material to match the vertical tilt base mounting.Looks pretty straightforw
