I respectfully beg to differ. The 1000D with the roofing filters and the minor W8JI improvements is an exceptionally fine radio, with **much** better ergonomics than its successors. To each his own..

You must be kidding!! I have owned the FT-1000MP & Field and the Pro 3 and none of them come near the FT1000D for received signal, dont know what you were using but it does not sound like FT1KD John
