Just trying to set up SO2R and having some trouble with humm in the receive audio line from the DX Doubler to the Heil head set. When I hook the Heil directly to the D all is ok but going thru the DX

Bill, I get a little hum in the RX audio when using the DXD with a FT1000D and FT1000MPMkV. It's so slight that normal band noise covers it up. Now, the TX path was a different story - when routing

Had the same problem with two FT-1000Ds and a DX Doubler. For some reason - never did figure it out - when the two radios are connected to the Doubler, there is an inordinate amount of hum in the Hei

The audio on the Yaesu floats. If you provide a true ground you'll get AC hum. The transformer provides some isolation. I have an interface circuit that will provide you a better method to match the

FYI - I don't have experience with a DX doubler. I use a Griffin iMic connected to a Mac USB port. I completely eliminated hum by using mini telephone modem 600-600 ohm transformers for DC isolation

There is also a tech note on the top Ten web site about dealing with hum. Mouser has inexpensive small audio iso transformers that have less loss than Radio Shax. 73, Pete N4ZR ______________________

They also sell a 600 ohm hybrid transformer that allows you to split your mike audio to 2 radios with good impedance matching and frequency response. They were a bit large phsically, but about $5 a p
