Comments:

THAT was interesting. I took the roof-mounted HF9V down after last week's 1300.
But the previous homeowner had left a bracket at one corner of the roof, and
years ago, thinking it might be useful someday, I'd tied a pulley to it and run
paracord down to the fence below it.

I'd bought a little MFJ G5RV-Jr at a hamfest years ago, and figured "What
the heck," tied its center insulator to the paracord hoisted it up, tying
each 26' leg to a bush or tree. It works! (The big Palstar manual gives me a
2.2:1 SWR on 80.) Not ideally, and I had to do some experimenting this morning,
but it did well on 20m with the amplifier's internal ATU. Pushing 1500w into it
sometimes caused the CO detector upstairs to beep.

Still, it's nice for the old geezer not to have to climb the 42' ladder any
more. (The kids really appreciate that.) I'm working on something better! It was
nice to work several Europeans this morning.

--- 73, and thanks for the QSOs... John K3GHH
