> That's a very important point. No amateur "power" meter actually > MEASURES RF power. Not strictly true. There are some amateur meters that measure power directly by absorbing it in a load. I think SSB produce one and there are several home made designs. In case anyone is interested, there has been a clearout in the MOD in the UK and you can now get second hand HP431s for around £25 for the meter and about the same for the thermistor mounts. You can of course make your own detectors.
