Switching supplies are used in industrial/commercial applications that rival
amplifier service and would easily meet the requirements for the Hercules
and weigh in at less than half of the comparable linear. The down side is
cost. Switchers of this size are generally more expensive than their linear
counterpart.
A quick check of the Allied catalog lists a Cosel single supply rated 15
Volts @ 100 Amps that could be adjusted down to the 13.8 required by the
Amplifier. It's listed at $1824.71.
