I ran a pair of these on 50 mc. with 2800VDC on the plates. I used
the 4CX250R version of these, but also had the 4CX250B version in the
amplifier. It ran great and I really didn't care if they failed, as
they were only $5.00 each surplus in the late 1960's and early
1970's. I had 250VDC on the screens with a highly regulated supply.
I found it to be a great tube. The problem I had was the plate cap
wasn't rated with high enough voltage and it would occasionally arc
over. I fixed this by painting it with TV corona dope which stopped
the arcing. The things I did when I was 19 scares me to thing about
them now.
