I don't doubt this is the optimum solution, but necessary? My TS-930 is
perfectly happy driving my unmodified SB-220 on all bands including 12 and
17 meters. My Mark 5 is happy with it on every band but 40m, where the
power folds back a little because of the input SWR. Again, it works fine
on 12 and 17m even though the input circuits were never designed for these
bands.
