One of the things I did to sort of get even with people that got me angry
was take a little HB
audio oscillator tuned to a bit over 20 kc and a submini speaker and turn it
on and watch the reactions.
Most of my targets were banks that wouldn't give me a car loan, an over
reactive judge that
fined me $50 for a short burnout at a light, and similar. Hey, I was only in
my 20's and $50 was a lot of money in 64!
People rubbing their ears or faces to no reacting and bank guards and cops
getting real antsy
sinc they knew something was happening but didn't know what since they
couldn't hear that high.
If I lowered the frequency women would get real antsy and noisy which drove
the guards and cops nuts.
A friend built one and had fun in church and bars!

When I was a kid, a local department store had some kind of ultrasonic
alarm system that drove me nuts. I used to also be able to hear the 15 kHz
sound from TV sweep oscillators.
One of the advantages of growing up is not hearing these any more !

Somebody suggested having a young person listen for a very-high pitched
sound. I think that's a very good idea indeed. Has that been tried yet?
I know a teenage boy that can hear the 'ultrasonic' noise emanating from
most cell phone and tablet screens, and at a considerable distance.
