K3KO warned:

Check your WF1B RTTY contest logs to see if VR97BG is scored correctly.

In mine (V3.1) it was not recognized and assigned zero points and no
country multiplier. It did give credit for the zone.

Effective 1600 GMT 1 July 1997, any callsign which starts with the letters
VR should belong to a station licensed by the Hongkong Special
Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

Fixing the data files for one's contesting software should be easy, except
that the United Kingdom continues to use VR6 on Pitcairn, contrary to the
agreement it made to transfer the VRA-VRZ block to the PRC, which has been
registered with the ITU & published in a recent ITU Operational Bulletin.

Other "users" of VR include Vietnam, with its well-known VRQ commercial
station & Thailand, which used this prefix for licensing thousands of VHFers.

It seems that ignoring ITU stuff isn't just for third-world countries anymore!
