I found the post on your station layout quite interesting.
I have experimented with having both radios stacked to one side with the
monitor in front, but I found this limited me to using only one hand to
operate the radios. When digging out a QSO I will often have one hand on
the volume control and the other on the tuning knob, RIT, passband tune,
DSP, etc. This really made me feel "crippled". Perhaps in domestic
contests where there is less need to tweak the receiver this might bother
me less. As the result, I've settled on the two transceivers side-by-side
with the monitor immediately above. By shifting my chair slightly side to
side, I can favor one radio or the other. Having the monitor above the
radios has not proven to induce neck strain for me.
I've long pondered getting a "computer table" with the keyboard recess in
it. In this way, there is less "reaching" across the keyboard for the
radio. I too, still use the paddle for manual sending, although I am
finding that many people have abandoned the paddle (gee, how will Bencher
continue to generate revenue :-)).
