I believe a special category for SO1R versus SO2R would be wrong.

At my station I am always a Single Op. It is my choice to do SO1R or SO2R.
I do not have the skills to do SO2R nor the interest in setting up the
filters, etc.

I admire the ops who have the skills to do SO2R. They have earned their
higher scores.

They are nonetheless Single Operators using ham gear and their own
hard-developed skills to generate higher scores as Single Ops.

We do not need to establish a different category for those of us who do not
wish to learn how to do SO2R and set up the equipment. That would be like
setting up a different category for those of us who are slow speed CW ops.
If we want to be competitive at CW it is up to us to develop our CW skills,
not ask for a special category.

QRP, LP, and QRO are equipment categories. Single op and multi/single and
multi/multi also are essentially equipment categories. In all cases the
equipment or number of operators is the determinant, not the skill of the
operator involved. (Please don't carp about the SO2R op having too much
equipment as in extra radios-- he is still a single op. And many of us SO1R
types have back-up radios. He is just putting his to better use through his
own skills.)

Now about a category with a height limitation such as 50 or 60 feet....
Incidentally my top antenna is at 85 feet, so I am NOT looking for a special
category here.

The flames could be interesting.

Rusty, na5tr
