I wonder if this was the same op who lectured me with similar
profanity in 1994 on using /5 in my exchange during the CW
Sweepstakes contest?

It was my first contest from this new QTH, and having been first
licensed in the 60s, when the FCC cared about these things, I used
KK6MC/5 both when calling and in the exchange. I was on 20M CW Sunday
afternoon. I sent my exchange, and was shocked when the other op
replied by going on a rant, complete with profanity, on how I was
wasting his time and mine by signing the /5. In those days I copied
on CW on paper and it was shocking to see me swearing at myself as I
wrote down what he was sending.

I haven't signed /5 in a contest since then. I have marveled at how
upset the other op was, as he wasted more time upbraiding me in CW
than my /5 could have possibly cost him. I recognized the call as one
of the big guns in contesting then, but I have forgotten the call
now. - Duffey
