The contest was a lot more fun the old way:
30 hours
No one point QSOs within your own country - this used to be a fun ***DX***
contest, with USA mults but for zero QSO points. Check out for instance how
much DX the high scoring Texas stations work, as opposed to domestic one
pointers. We all like the CQWW rules - why did they change them for CQ WPX
?
No phony USA "borrow a callsign" operations to become a rare multiplier.
Yes, I know the FCC permits it (I know - I checked !), but it doesn't make
it right. Does it make sense to you that a callsign used in the contest
does not need to convey ANY information about the operator OR the QTH ?
Stu KC1F (Yes, used to be a rare mult in WPX - 4 times USA plaque
winner but I won't operate again seriously under the current rules). I'll
be fooling around on 20 this weekend, but my beam will usually be at Europe.
