I often get many (a dozen?) zero beat callers on ssb, due to my being mild
DX and not wanting to take up band space with a split.
I found the technique with a IC-706 on VU4 and now use it often with my
FT-9000d at home in HS.

I turn the bandpass tuning knob and very often one of the many voices will
just pop out. Don't tell me it can not work because it does for me.

This is very easy on the FT-9000d with that large knob just under my right
hand; not at all easy on my IC-7800.

Give it a try with your radio. 73, Charly
