I think most of us contest to have fun or for occasional bragging rights with 
our peers. Plaques and certificates are usually secondary to that.

N1UR is right about the Bermuda contest. In 1984 I attended the awards banquet, 
which was held the week before CQWW DX SSB. I was in Bermuda for the VP9AD M/M. 
I think the winners from W/K , VE, G and DL got an all expenses paid trip which 
included airfare and a week before the contest in a nice resort. Many of the 
winners,which many were well known contesters, joined the VP9AD operation.

I believe a few years ago there was also a contest sponsored by the Azores 
Tourism Board where the winner got a trip to CT2?
