The KT-36XA upgrade kit is a huge mechanical improvement over the old KT-34XA. All of the aluminum straps have been replaced with CNC-machined aluminum brackets. No more intermittancies ! A few of the dimensions have been slightly changed in the 36XA, compared to the 34XA, but I doubt that results in a 1.5 dB improvement. Be warned, however - expect to spend 25 hours doing the upgrade.

The KT36XA has the same number of elements in the same configuration as

the KT34XA with the same boom length. It is not a significantly
different antenna.

The "upgrade kit" replaces components in the trap assemblies which M2
claims fail in the KT-34XA. In the documentation for the "upgrade
kit",
M2 claims their KT-36XA has 1.5 dB more gain than the KLM KT-34XA and
that this "upgrade kit" endows the 34XA with this increased gain and
structural improvements..

Let's remember that this thread originated with Martin, LU5DX asking if

anybody knew about KB6D's extension of the KT-34XA with more elements.

Neither the KT-36XA nor the "upgrade kit" makes the antenna any bigger.

Back in the day, KLM made the KT-34A tribander, which had four
tri-band, trapped elements, and the KT-34XA tribander which had a
longer boom with five tri-band, trapped elements and and extra
monoband director for 10M. KLM also offered a conversion kit to
upgrade a KT-34A to a KT-34XA.

There was no "enhanced" version beyond the KT-34XA available from
the
factory.

I am guessing this is the product of the original 34xa mfg when

Hi all,

Does anybody remember WB6D?

He once told me during a QSO he was using a stack of "Improved"
KT34XAs.

According to what he described he had added one more director to
the
original KT34XAs.

Does anyone have a link to additional information on how that was
done?

Tnx in advance,

Martin LU5DX
