I think you are looking at this the wrong way. You are thinking "rare", as
in a rare entity in a DX contest, and folks will chase it to add to their
mult count.
With so many mults available in the WPX contest, look at a few of the top
scores (any year). You will see that every 3 to 5 QSOs is a new mult.
This matches my experience. Even towards the end of the contest, when I am
running, every 3 to 5 QSO's is a new mult. Even if you use a never before
activated prefix, it will not generate a lot of extra interest, as there is
simply SO many mults available. If you miss this one, you will work a new
mult in the next few Q's you make, so no point in chasing a "rare" mult..
