I have just been experimenting with VE3NEA's Ionoprobe software, which
downloads and displays SESC data (www.dxatlas.com). There's one parameter
it displays that I haven't heard of before -- Effective Sunspot
Number. Compounding my confusion, it is currently showing this value as
