[RFI] BPL off when the lights go out?

I wonder how BPL would be affected in a big power outage?
If you ran your machine off a generator or a laptop on a battery and had BPL 
service would you get any connection data?  I guess it wouldn't be dependent 
on 60 Hz AC necessarily.
